- Create a Shopify customer with the right tags and access when you approve.
Everything beyond that (wholesale pricing, quantity breaks, net terms) is a separate concern. Some apps bundle it all together. Others focus on registration only. Neither approach is wrong, but it matters which one you need.
Category 1: Wholesale Suites With Registration Built In
These apps do B2B registration as part of a larger wholesale feature set. If you need pricing tiers, quantity breaks, and net terms alongside registration, they're the all-in-one option.
BSS B2B Wholesale Solution
4.8 stars, 938 reviews, around 4,800 installs. BSS is one of the most installed B2B apps on Shopify. It offers custom pricing, volume discounts, price lists by customer group, and flexible multi-step registration forms.
The registration forms are capable. You can collect company info, set up approval workflows, and auto-tag customers. But the registration feature is one piece of a much larger app. You're paying for the entire wholesale engine whether you use it or not.
The trade-off that matters most: BSS works by injecting code into your theme. There are merchant reports of theme conflicts causing days of downtime, and code fragments remaining in theme files after uninstall. If your theme is important to you, this is worth weighing carefully.
Pricing starts around $25/month and goes up to $100+ depending on features.
Wholesale Gorilla
4.6 stars, around 320 reviews, roughly 4,300 installs. Wholesale Gorilla offers a comprehensive B2B suite with wholesale pricing, net terms, custom shipping, and signup forms.
The registration feature is solid but gated to higher plans. Custom signup forms are reserved for the top-tier plan at $149.95/month. Like BSS, it operates by modifying your storefront code.
Recent reviews flag issues with global tax handling after Shopify's tax system updates. One February 2026 review noted the app no longer supports shop-wide tax rules correctly, with no clear workaround.
Good option if you need the full wholesale stack and are comfortable with theme code injection. Expensive if you only need registration.
SparkLayer
SparkLayer targets mid-market and enterprise merchants with a full B2B ordering platform, including registration forms, wholesale pricing, and account management. Pricing is higher (custom quotes for most plans). Strong if you're a larger operation. Overkill if you're just starting with B2B.

Where it falls short for B2B specifically: no built-in VAT or Tax ID validation, no auto-approval rules based on business criteria, and no native Shopify Plus B2B company assignment. You can make it work for B2B, but you're assembling the workflow from general-purpose parts.

SureCust Forms Builder
4.9 stars, 73 reviews. SureCust is a free form builder with customer approval, auto-approval, tagging, and page locking. Impressive for a free app. You can build contact forms, registration forms, and wholesale inquiry forms with file uploads and conditional logic.
The limitation is similar to Helium: it's a general-purpose tool. B2B-specific features like VAT validation or Plus company assignment aren't part of the package. But if your B2B needs are straightforward (collect company info, approve manually), SureCust is hard to beat on value.
Category 3: B2B-Specific Registration Apps
These apps focus on the B2B registration and approval workflow specifically.
B2B Handsfree
4.2 stars, 11 reviews. Built by A9 Design, B2B Handsfree focuses on B2B registration with EU VAT ID validation. It validates against the VIES database in real time, sets customers as tax exempt, and tags them for wholesale pricing.
It does the B2B registration job specifically, which is good. The limitation: VAT validation is EU-only. If you sell to UK, US, Australian, or Canadian businesses, you're out of luck. The install base is small, which can be a risk factor for long-term support.

B2B Onboard (ours)
This is the app I'm building at Mentilead, so take this section with appropriate skepticism.
B2B Onboard focuses on three things: B2B registration forms, approval workflows, and getting out of the way of your theme.
